  • Bluedio TS-3 Bluetooth Speaker

I’e seen and used a variety of bluetooth speakers from Amazon, but this is completely different to anything I’ve seen - but it almost get you to the edge of too much of polished chrome material, but looks very different and stylish on desk. Front facia is fingerprint and dust magnet, so need a good clean once in a while. Slightly larger than average bluetooth speaker, only has 5 watts in total but sounds way louder than we expect. Two speakers sitting at both ends gives a wider stereo / surround image and pleasant audible experience.

Sits beautifully on desk, ver low profile, still there is a subwoofer facing downwards, thanks to the rubber feet. There is no signs of distortion at any point, the circular button on the top is the key to navigation, levels, power and pairing. No NFC on the device unfortunately. Comes with a micro USB cable and 3.5mm audio cable in a very well packed high quality box.
    Unique looking speaker
Comes pre-charged, pairing up takes just less than 15 seconds or so - put Beyoce Lemonade full album for a spin. I’ve heard this recently on many different systems, so easy to compare the aspects. All the richness, sheer power, emotions and vocal colour coupled with the modern instruments and techniques used in the album can put any speakers to real test. Bluedio TS-3 speaker held up okay with good audio reproduction. There is a sense of feeling that something is missing, but that’s surely because of the size and power of amp - in my opinion.

Moved on to some incredible remixes of popular tracks like BBHMM  - no distortion at any given point, but lacks power. The limitation of cabin shows off when you go higher levels. Bass always shines through when you have more room inside the speakers to design with. Passive subwoofer drivers, translates some of the frequency range to non-audible cabin vibration, that you can feel it.

Note to bass lovers / heads: This is again a small speaker, more treble focussed sound, there is a bass driver at the bottom, but not sure that is active or passive, but it does moves a bit at higher levels. The speaker lacks bass for sure, but more accurately, it must be down to the low RMS output offered. The bass goes down to 200Hz or so, but it would have helped a little more with more powerful amp.

Back to technology, the speaker comes with Bluetooth 4.2 profile,  micro SD card playback support and 3.5mm input as well.  I’d really think this speaker has great potential with minor tweaks by adding more power to subwoofer in the bottom of the unit, adding more passive drivers can move freely in the rear of the speaker and reducing a bit of higher frequencies in the range over 12000 Hz or so. By no means the treble is annoying, but cleanly reproduced.

    Few tips:

    a. Keep the speaker in ear level for a more open sound.
    b. Just to be aware the limitation of tiny speakers ability of bass reproduction, particularly for those who are bassheads.

Overall great speakers with a wonderful look and finish, contemporary styled that gives a sleek and elegant look. Please check out the pictures if you wish to see a closer real life look. Audio recorded directly to just Samsung mobile microphone, what you hear in the clip attached is exactly you get from the speaker.
